About me |
Hello! I'm Lori Borseth, owner and chef at Lorena Machado. I am from Brazil and have always been a connoisseur of our most delicious treat, the brigadeiro. With my passion for sweets and a desire to share a piece of my native country with others, making and selling these mouth watering candies was the perfect opportunity to combine them both. Whatever I do I do with love, and when you try my brigadeiros I think you'll fall in love as well.

About Brigadeiro |
Now let me tell you a little bit about the yummiest candy you'll ever try. Brigadeiro, pronounced bree.gah.day.ro, is the most popular candy in Brazil and is served at every birthday party. The original brigadeiro is made with condensed milk, unsalted butter, chocolate and topped with chocolate sprinkles. Eventually the humble brigadeiro evolved to include many different variations and were customized by their makers with everything from nuts to liquor. Through this creativity the gourmet brigadeiro was born; just a fancier version, but with the same essence of the original that is still delicious and unique to its simplicity.
In recent years brigadeiros have gone from simple party treat to full fledged dessert. It can be enjoyed as a sweet snack in the afternoon, at birthday parties, weddings, business meetings, charity events, baby showers, coffee shops and any other event where you want to provide your guests with a little something special. It's a little hard to explain what a brigadeiro is because a brigadeiro is not a truffle, a fudge, or a caramel. It's not a bonbon, or a toostsie roll, or a lollipop. A brigadeiro is a brigadeiro, a unique Brazilian candy. You need to take a bite, or have whole brigadeiro, or maybe two or three to understand the difference. Once you have a brigadeiro, then you'll know what it is. It's hard to explain, but it's easy to understand after the first bite. |
